Tribute in Lights

Posted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 14 September 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

On Friday evening Mark and I met up with Mary Brooks Brown and her friend Charity at Liberty State Park to see if we could get some shots of the annual 9-11 Tribute in Lights. It was a rainy windy nasty evening so we took a little car-tour of Jersey City and Hoboken while waiting for the rain to let up and the fog and low cloud deck to lift a little before heading back to Liberty State Park to get the shots of the Tribute in Lights.

It was super to finally meet Mary and her friend Charity. They made a long trip to come see the lights and I was very worried that they would be disappointed because of the nasty weather. But when the cloud deck lifted a bit we witnessed a very eerily beautiful sight. The memorial is breathtaking and touching and the wind whistling through the buildings made the sound of anguished wailing in the night.
