Frame of ReferencePosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 23 April 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This is a wider view of the tree that "snowed petals" in the previous post. It was shot about a minute before the previous photo. For a higher resolution view go here. See my new SLIDESHOW page. Your comments are very much appreciated. I love the different colors both dark and bright. Amazing! =) 23 Apr 2009 3:58pm Diane Schuller from Hythe, CanadaYou know, I actually like this one a lot more. Being further back and having the perspective of the path plus the sweep of the beautifully illuminated tree is stunning. Stunning. 23 Apr 2009 4:03pm @Diane Schuller: Thanks...originally I shot this first and then had framed the next one (previous post "snowing petals") to focus on the bicycle riders that were coming down the path at regular intervals...There were so many people out that day. As I started to compose the shot and waited to get a rider coming under the tree the wind picked up a bit and it started snowing petals so I took that shot with the petals coming down. Of course I waited to see if it would snow petals with a rider coming under the tree as the petals fell...but that never happened and I moved on. I was actually in the same spot for both shots...I just zoomed in for the previous post to get the frame of the branches for a shot of the riders coming down the path and under the tree. Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, CanadaThere is always one showoff in the crowd. 23 Apr 2009 4:24pm Magda from Vancouver, CanadaLove it! This is absolutely breathtaking! Superb composition and post editing. The colours and softness give is a very special character/feel to this image. I would frame all of your images! 23 Apr 2009 4:42pm @Magda: Wow thank you. Don't tell anyone...but I have very few of my photos hanging on my walls. I had many printed to sell but I just don't hang any at home...strange huh? Chris from South Jersey, United StatesI love the path and colors, and that blue sky is stunning. But for me, the sky is a bit too much negative space in the shot - I wonder what cropping out the top would look like.... 23 Apr 2009 4:46pm @Chris: Thanks. For me the composition would be awkward and little too central with that crop...I have one that I composed like that and I preferred this one. I felt there was more context in this one which actually drew more attention to the tree in the end. :) EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomAbsolutely magnificent, Laura. I think the sky looks wonderful as it is and compliments the composition which is balanced to perfection.
