Cereal and CoffeePosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 20 March 2009 in Food & Cuisine and Portfolio. Well I got through some of my backlogged images but now it is time to take a break from that and return to some more recent images. This was shot a couple of weeks ago. For a higher resolution view go here. See my new SLIDESHOW page. Your comments are very much appreciated. I know how much time and effort it takes to visit and leave comments. I really do appreciate them. I make every effort to reply to questions but sometimes I miss one or two and I apologize for that. If you really need me to get an answer to you quickly, the best way is to use the CONTACT button at the bottom of the page. P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomJust what I need this morning, certainly looks good enough to eat 20 Mar 2009 8:28am Laura from Birmingham, United Kingdombeautiful shot - the processing is excellent. How did you achieve it? The colours and vignette are very effective, as well as the shallow dof 20 Mar 2009 8:28am @Laura: Thanks. I don't remember exactly what I did, but I did most of it in Lightroom. I usually just apply curves which I like to do in Photoshop normally because I like to apply curves in multiple layers, but this time I did it in Lightroom. Everything was pretty even so Lightroom worked well for this shot. I shot this using high speed sync with my strobes and small sotboxes. I like to shoot high speed sync to make backgrounds fall into darkness. jamesy from christchurch, New Zealandgreat shot but don't you know its night time now hehehe 20 Mar 2009 8:33am Jean-François from Les Issambres, Francemagnifique photo pour un si douce lumière accueillante ! 20 Mar 2009 9:47am MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United Statesf2.8 gets the job done, doesn't it? :) FAST lens. Nice work. 20 Mar 2009 10:24am Charles from New York, United StatesYou've taken something simple and turned it into a great shot. I hope it was good! 20 Mar 2009 11:15am akarui from Kagoshima, JapanThat seems to be a very good and healthy breakfast. Beautiful DOF and colors. 20 Mar 2009 11:59am EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomLike a brochure shot from a country house, so elegant and oozing quality. Beautifully captured 20 Mar 2009 12:07pm @EYES WIDE SHUT: Thanks...that was the idea behind this shot actually. I used to subscribe to several "Country" home magazines years ago and the mood in the photos and the rooms profiled in the magazines back in the 1980's was similar to this. Now they are much brighter and contemporary. I was always drawn to the rich rustic warmth of a country house. mo.langel from Courtelary, SwitzerlandHum!!! Bien appétissante cette image! Très belle lumière! 20 Mar 2009 12:08pm Marcie from United StatesWonderful composition. Such a perfectly simple every-day occurrence...transformed into an elegant affair. 20 Mar 2009 12:15pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThis is a great composition and the light is just 'wow'! The depth of field and colour is superb! 20 Mar 2009 12:24pm Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgiumnice presentation - there is a lot to see here and it all blends together for a pleasing picture If I had one slight criticism, I would have backed off on the dark curve a bit (or reduced the black slider value in Lightroom) - that's my personal taste though - to each their own ! Looks like you got a new camera as well - congrats 20 Mar 2009 12:55pm @Jason Kravitz: Thanks...The very dark background was a result of using high speed sync with the flash. When you use high speed sync you can create some very drastic contrast between light and dark. So drastic that you can shoot outside on a sunny day and have it seem to be night. This does not look very different than the original. Behrooz Sangani from Tehran, IranSimple and beautiful! This is also very well processed, Laurie. I always loved your view of the world around you. 20 Mar 2009 1:57pm Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandI'll pass on the cereal (I'm not a rabbit :) ) but I would love a sweet black coffee!
