Working on the RailroadPosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 18 March 2009 in Transportation and Portfolio. I am continuing to make my way through the backlog of images that I had not posted but intended to. This is from November in New Hope Pennsylvania and the New Hope Ivyland Railraod. These are the guys that run things. From the looks of it they were changing shifts. These guys always look happy so it is my guess that they love what they do. For a much larger more detailed view go here. See my new SLIDESHOW page. Your comments are very much appreciated. I know how much time and effort it takes to visit and leave comments. I really do appreciate them. I make every effort to reply to questions but sometimes I miss one or two and I apologize for that. If you really need me to get an answer to you quickly, the best way is to use the CONTACT button at the bottom of the page. I post the same photos here as on Capturethisphotography.com but they are higher res. and landscape orientation shots are larger size. I post only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Jean-François from Les Issambres, Francequelle superbe photo *************************************************** 18 Mar 2009 7:30am EYES WIDE SHUT from United KingdomThere is such atmosphere and character in this photograph. The devotion and camaraderie of the men, the beauty of the engine, the memories of the past. Superb 18 Mar 2009 8:21am Charles from New York, United StatesBeautiful shot. I love the tones and the action on this shot with the steam and the crew. 18 Mar 2009 10:15am Betty from New Jersey, United StatesWouldn't you just love to be an engineer on one of these... even for just a few minutes? :-) I love steam engines and trains! Fantastic shot! 18 Mar 2009 10:16am @Betty: Thanks...They do allow people to come and ride in the cab...for a price of course. It is hot and dirty so you have to be dressed right for it. I've never done it but have thought about it. It is interesting because one of the guys that is an engineer on the train works in a generating station as an operator for the same company as my husband. It is a small world. You need a kind of boiler operators license to run one of these, and you need a kind of boiler operators license to operate the boilers at the generating station. P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomYes they look like true enthusiasts in this well framed image 18 Mar 2009 10:39am Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United StatesIt might have once been every kid's (my age group) dream to be an engineer on a big locomotive like this. Superb images, both of them. 18 Mar 2009 1:15pm @dobbino: Thanks. It was shot the same day. This is a favorite subject and location for me. There is a nice microbrewery right next to the station...Triumphs. Mark and I like to duck in for a beer and a bite to eat.
