A Little More Winter

Well winter is starting to let up with some more moderate temps...thank God...I just got my gas bill for the past month and YIKES!!! I've never had such a high heating bill in my life. It was cccccold last month. But I digress...This is another shot of the wooden paths through the Great Swamp. You can see a slightly different view of this same walkway in black and white from Fall 2006 here.

@Observing: Thanks. This is a wildlife refuge located in the a swamp. Being a swamp much of the ground is very soggy and wet so they they installed wooden walkways through much of the park so that people can walk safely through while observing all the beauty that a swamp has to offer.

@k@: Thanks...Because this is swampland they installed many wooden walkways like this one throughout the park so that people could safely wander and observe all of the beauty and wildlife in the preserve.

Beautiful place of quiet and solitude. I imagine standing there listening to the snowflakes fall. Lovely POV and tones. The B&W version is just as nice with a different mood.
We have these walkways in many parks here, nice to stroll through over swampy grounds and alligators. ; )

it looks just as beautiful if not more. Again I love how the viewer is drawn into the image with the winding boardwalk. Using portrait orientation rather than landscape is especially effective for this.

Well, after all these comments you hardly need me to chime in, but I will anyway. I particularly like the DOF on this one. The other beautiful shot you linked to is great as well, but I like the focus on that first tree in this one. It really gives a powerful sense of leading into the shot. Nice work.
