A Single Tree

I have photographed this tree several times over the years. You can see 2 of those shots here and here. This tree stands alone in this spot which is just a little spit of land , a jetty more or less, that sticks into the bay across from NY in the Atlantic Highlands. You used to be able to go onto the jetty but they recently replaced the fencing and gates which now extend into the water preventing access, unless you don't mind getting wet to get there. I shot this from a restaurant parking lot that is adjacent to the jetty.

I love the light in this and that seagull passing through. That looks like some gravel or something piled in the foreground among the rocks. Lots to look at.

Subtle tones and a beautifully balanced composition. The highlights in the foreground and the passing bird are the icing on the cake here for me. The other shots are also very good. I like this idea of returning to a favourite place to capture it in different light and from other angles.
