Stillness

The Great Swamp is beautiful all year round with lots of amazing flora and fauna to be found if you take the time to look. I am especially fond of this place in the fall and winter. In the fall the beauty of the place is obvious with the wonderful vibrant fall colors that abound here. In the winter the beauty is more subtle and quiet. I find the haunting quiet stillness of this place in a gentle snowfall to be so soothing and despite the cold, there is kind of warmth in this place.

Because it is a swamp the paths are mostly an assortment of boardwalks like this one, some with railings and some without, that wind their way through the swamp leading to various wildlife viewing blinds like the one I was in when I took this shot.
