Number 40Posted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 30 November 2008 in Transportation and Portfolio. This was shot on Saturday afternoon in New Hope PA. It is the New Hope Ivyland Steam Train as it gets ready to take tourists on another run. It is quite a charming scene especially this time of year with Thanksgiving having just passed and Christmas just around the corner. For a much larger view go here. See my new SLIDESHOW page. Your comments are very much appreciated. I know how much time and effort it takes to visit and leave comments. I really do appreciate them. I make every effort to reply to questions but sometimes I miss one or two and I apologize for that. I post the same photos here as on Capturethisphotography.com but they are higher res. and landscape orientation shots are larger size. I post only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

I guess maybe I should have called you before I went. I was in New Hope looking at this train on Saturday evening, probably just a few hours after you were and thinking what a great night shot it would make as it sat next to the station illuminated by all the Christmas lights (as my camera sat in my car). Small world. 30 Nov 2008 6:06am @Russ Devan: Oh you're kidding? You were there? We started out at Ringoes in NJ (where the Black River and Western trains are kept and run between Flemington and Ringoes). Then we rode over to Millford to look around...not too much excitement there. After that we went to New Hope. We were there for a couple of hours, had an early supper at Triumphs, then went to Peddler's Village for some window shopping shots before we went home. We had Russell with us. I am teaching him how to use my old Olympus E300. Shoot! next time you'd better call. We go out that way a lot. I left the white balance as shot (Auto) which rendered exactly the light I saw. If I cooled it down it would not have been the light that was there which was what I found so appealing. MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyWhat a great old train! I remember locomotives still running when I was a child, it was always a quite spectacular sight! 30 Nov 2008 5:11pm Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesAbsolutely wonderful photo.
