Pink CrocPosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 20 November 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. This was also shot at the Rutgers Gardens. As soon as I got out of the car I noticed this pink Croc on the fence next to my car. I have always wondered how one loses such things. I know that babies often discard their shoes and it can go unnoticed but this was not a baby's shoe, it looked like it belonged to a young child but definitely not a baby or toddler. I do know how a college student loses shoes though! Russell told me the story of how he and some friends were walking in New Brunswick and one of them was kicking something on the sidewalk and his shoe went flying over a fence and into a construction pit where he could not retrieve it. Silly college students! So at least now I have an answer to one of the mysteries of life! For a much larger view go here. See my new SLIDESHOW page. Your comments are very much appreciated. I know how much time and effort it takes to visit and leave comments. I really do appreciate them. I make every effort to reply to questions but sometimes I miss one or two and I apologize for that. If you really need me to get an answer to you quickly, the best way is to use the CONTACT button at the bottom of the page. I post the same photos here as on Capturethisphotography.com but they are higher res. and landscape orientation shots are larger size. I post only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

That Croc looks brand new! 20 Nov 2008 10:38am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaSuper photo - by a strange coincidence I bought my first pair of these things this morning (after much prompting, I might add - I think they look ridiculous - and no, mine are NOT pink)! 20 Nov 2008 12:09pm Anna.C from Franceso, where is the other ? I like this strange subject ! good composition and DOF 20 Nov 2008 1:07pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThis is a cool shot, the pink so vibrant yet lonely feeling, and your choice of focus is cool. Yeah, how does loose such things...good question. It makes me wonder about those that don't notice they are (all of a sudden) missing a shoe ;) 20 Nov 2008 1:23pm Nina from Hamburg, GermanyGreat capture, Laurie.. the color of this shoe is really amazing! :) 20 Nov 2008 1:41pm Veronelle from Lens, Francebelle différence de coloris, on ne voit que la chaussure 20 Nov 2008 2:07pm Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceOriginal composition and beautiful contrast and textures. 20 Nov 2008 2:15pm Cia from Kvänum, SwedenNice image! I love the pink shoe, I have a pair myself :-) 20 Nov 2008 2:18pm ruben latre from Terrassa, SpainI love the DOF in this one, can I ask which lenses did you use ?? I will understand it if you don't want to say it !! hehehe 20 Nov 2008 2:49pm @ruben latre: Thanks...I used my 70-200mm f2.8 Tokina. I've had the lens for a few years and it is is a really great lens for the price. I "think" it is discontinued by Tokina but I am not entirely sure. I usually buy Nikon lenses but when I got this one I had to get a few lenses at once, and so I was very budget conscious. It is still one of my favorite lenses and is always in my bag. It works even better on my D700 than on my D200. Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandIt's so funny! I photo with a story and luckily for you it had this beautiful pink color which stands out in the surrounding! You wouldn't believe how many single shoes I find every day on the beach, and I'm always wondering how you can loose a shoe and are they walking home on one shoe without noticing?! :) 20 Nov 2008 3:03pm Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesBeautiful selective focus, Laurie! I've gone back and looked at your images taken with the D700 ... the colors are so deep and rich ... all the various subtle shades of green in this image are just gorgeous! 20 Nov 2008 3:14pm Yvonne S. from Tilburg, NetherlandsNice picture Laurie, I love crocs, althougt it's not cool anymore to wear them. 20 Nov 2008 3:53pm Rabbit from Richmond, United StatesMy best guess - maybe they had 2 pair of shoes & changed them... Or if it was a kids shoe they could have been playing about & then walked to the car barefoot... While their parents were holding on to the shoes & they accidentally dropped one - not realizing it. As for being on the fence (someone prob put it there so it would be easier to see if they came back to look for it) Great find tho. I like finding the odd things in life TOO! they make me think of great stories in my head some logical some not - but fun none the less. 20 Nov 2008 4:16pm Marcie from United StatesGreat eye!
