Pink Croc

This was also shot at the Rutgers Gardens. As soon as I got out of the car I noticed this pink Croc on the fence next to my car. I have always wondered how one loses such things. I know that babies often discard their shoes and it can go unnoticed but this was not a baby's shoe, it looked like it belonged to a young child but definitely not a baby or toddler.
I do know how a college student loses shoes though! Russell told me the story of how he and some friends were walking in New Brunswick and one of them was kicking something on the sidewalk and his shoe went flying over a fence and into a construction pit where he could not retrieve it. Silly college students! So at least now I have an answer to one of the mysteries of life!

This is a cool shot, the pink so vibrant yet lonely feeling, and your choice of focus is cool. Yeah, how does loose such things...good question. It makes me wonder about those that don't notice they are (all of a sudden) missing a shoe ;)

@ruben latre: Thanks...I used my 70-200mm f2.8 Tokina. I've had the lens for a few years and it is is a really great lens for the price. I "think" it is discontinued by Tokina but I am not entirely sure. I usually buy Nikon lenses but when I got this one I had to get a few lenses at once, and so I was very budget conscious. It is still one of my favorite lenses and is always in my bag. It works even better on my D700 than on my D200.

It's so funny! I photo with a story and luckily for you it had this beautiful pink color which stands out in the surrounding! You wouldn't believe how many single shoes I find every day on the beach, and I'm always wondering how you can loose a shoe and are they walking home on one shoe without noticing?! :)

Beautiful selective focus, Laurie! I've gone back and looked at your images taken with the D700 ... the colors are so deep and rich ... all the various subtle shades of green in this image are just gorgeous!

My best guess - maybe they had 2 pair of shoes & changed them... Or if it was a kids shoe they could have been playing about & then walked to the car barefoot... While their parents were holding on to the shoes & they accidentally dropped one - not realizing it. As for being on the fence (someone prob put it there so it would be easier to see if they came back to look for it)
Great find tho. I like finding the odd things in life TOO! they make me think of great stories in my head some logical some not - but fun none the less.

I love it! Extremely good image, humorous, and curious. I love the greens and dof with that bright pink crock.
It looks fairly new and puzzling IF it was being worn at the time how it could be left behind. Their loss your gain for a fun image out of it.
