Bicycles on the Promenade

There is a very beautiful promenade along the waterfront in Jersey City. The views of the NYC skyline are wonderful and it is just wonderful spot. It was such a gorgeous day but it was not terribly busy when we were there. There was a huge outdoor concert going on at Liberty State Park which is also in Jersey City and only a short distance from where we were, which may explain the lack of crowds.

What a clean, safe-looking, and beautiful place to have so closely adjacent to downtown. I am sure the people who work and live in that area are there every chance they get! I would be, for sure.

I like the way the trees and railings frame the cyclist and the passageway. I too like the B&W treatment, though this city is so clean and bright I think I might have preferred to see this in colour?

@dobbino: Thanks. The color was too "busy" and the subjects, the bicyclists being small but important elements, were sort of lost in it all. When I shot it I knew it would end up being black and white.

I like this picture, specially twe two diagonals of lights and trees. I think these elements give depth to the photo.

Your images are utterly amazing. I also noticed that not one spec of garbage
flies over from New York City. (tee-hee) There isn't any. Another A+ to live and work in Jesey City. The wind almost always blows to the East. Thought I smelled an pccaisional whiff of fresh, clean air. Now I know its origin.

@Rebel Streetshooter: Thanks. I love NY too though. There are some wonderful neighborhoods there. When you consider the sheer number of people living and working there compared to Jersey City you can't expect it to be spotless.

I really li8ke the perspective here. I had to look at your data to see what you shot the pic at. I would have guessed less than 43 mm. It looks fine.

@MontereyJohn: Thanks. I shot it with a 28-70mm f2.8 Nikon @ 28mm but it translates to 43mm on the D200.
