This was shot on Friday Dec. 14th, the morning after we had a nasty ice storm. Lots of trees and large branches came down from the weight of the ice. I was walking through Mohawk Park and noticed this bench was broken. You can see the coating of ice on the bench and the ice makes the trees and bushes look frosted in the distance. There was also a slight fog that morning.
The path in the photo runs between the pond which can be seen behind the bench and the Rahway River which is on the left. The tree that is bending on the left side of the frame is actually overhanging the river. The path is rather narrow and when there are very heavy rains it is often completely under water and the river meets the pond.
I will be posting a series of close ups of the ice coated trees and berries on Capture This in the coming days so please be sure to check them out.
