Some of my favorite subjects are trains. I particularly love the old Steam Engines like this one. I just love the nostalgia, the sound of them, and the power they evoke.
I told Mark that I want to drive it. Probably never going to happen since you need a boiler operator's license to run it. Well maybe I can get a ride in the cab some day.
This was shot on Saturday in New Hope PA. It was a very cccccold day which helps to really accentuate the steam from the train.
We had our first snowfall on Sunday, not much, but enough to make it feel like winter has come. It's supposed to change to rain and all wash away by Monday morning. I posted a photo of the snow here if you'd like to have a peek.
Don't forget to visit "Tis' The Season" Justin Gaynor's fun Holiday Photoblog. I promise it will be worth the visit. So please go check it out.

A nice, gritty, sooty look to this image. I love old steam locomotives, too. Perhaps a visit to Strasburg Railroad and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is in order.

@Jeremy: Thanks. I've been shooting with a Nikon D200 for about 1 1/2 years. I have 6 lenses. The one I used here was my Nikon 28-70mm f2.8. It seems like I've been using this one most of the time since I got it a few months ago. The other one I always have with me is my 80-200mm f2.8. Those are the two lenses I must have with me at all times...lol.
awesome tonal range, very nice overall effect...
