This is a reach for me since I don't do photos of this nature very often. Although I do like high key images. I shot this one with the late afternoon sunlight from a window shining very bright on Missy's face.
It was difficult to get this one because she kept looking away. I had to crouch down low holding the camera with one hand trying not to shake while I was trying to keep her attention on me with the other. I had the battery grip and my heavy f2.8 28-70 mm lens on it...my poor wrist! I did end up using a fairly tight crop to get the look I was going for. It was just too hard to get it without the crop with her not being particularly co-operative.
I thought the effect was kind of cool, even though it's edgier than the kind of thing I usually go for. I knew Rob would like it, and I had shot it with him in mind. I send him lots of photos of his kitty while he is deployed and I wanted to give him something a bit different. He liked it, so that was really all that mattered.

@Andrea Auf dem Brinke: Thanks.
Very unique and interesting. My cat would have run off as soon as she heard the first click of the shutter (unless there was food on the lens hood).

For some reason I thought it was a hawk (sorry Kitty), I think it is the eye...searching for prey somewhere.

Very well done! I know how heavy those lenses are (I have a 24-70mm f/2.8) so you did a great job getting this.
