This was shot in Lake George last week when we were visiting colleges. After a long day we went over to Lake George to relax, have some dinner and take a look around. Mark and Russell have been to Lake George before but Jon and I had never been. It is a lovely although very touristy town. There was lots going on there including street musicians and some concerts at the park on the water. There were also some pretty strange things to see like these Aliens.

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thanks. I never saw that movie and had no idea that is what this is from. The store front attraction was called "Alien Encounter". I didn't venture in to see what it was about, this was at the entrance.
creepy looking guy there. nice shot.

@Jen: Thanks. I think it is, that is what others have been saying, but I never saw "Mars Attacks" so I didn't know.
Great perspective and tones on this shot. I recognized the Mars Attacks guy too. Is Lake George in NJ?
14 Aug 2007 7:26am
@Jason Kravitz: Thanks. Lake George is in Upstate New York, about 3-4 hours from where I live. We stopped by there after visiting a college nearby.
Wow, now this is like an extra terrestial... Really cool shot and the lightings and processing makes it way more interesting and lively. :) Look at those eyes. LOL!!!!

@Rahul: Thanks. I couldn't resist this photo op.
Very creepy shot. You can use this one at Halloween. Yeah, Lake George Village is very touristy, but the surrounding areas are beautiful and unique and less touristy. I discovered this area while working on my master's thesis in grad school and I got to stay in the area for a whole summer while I worked on it.
If you get to the Lake George area again, go to The Algonquin for dinner. Excellent food and the view of the lake from the upper dining room is excellent (especially at sunset). We go there for dinner everytime we're in the area. The restaurant is in Bolton Landing, about 20 minutes north of Lake George Village on Route 9N (next to Chic's Marina). If you're out on a boat on the lake, you can cruise right up to the restaurant, dock there, and have dinner or lunch out on the deck. Try the peanut butter pie (topped with chocolate chips) for dessert.

@Russ: Thanks Russ. We did drive around Lake George and up toward Lake Champlain and Fort Ticonderoga as well while we were there. It is gorgeous country for certain. Thanks for the advice. We will have to go there if and when we are back there.
The desert sounds evil...mmmmmmmmm.
Very cool shot, love the composition and lighting.

@david: Thanks. He and all of his buddies were safely behind glass.
This is fantastic. Despite the macabre nature of the model, there is also something quite amusing in its expression. Great aperture control and perfect d.o.f. and composition make this a great photo. Well done! Stewart

@Stewart Bywater: Thanks. I understand that the movie "Mars Attacks" from which this particular character came, was in fact a comedy although I've never actually seen the movie.
