Bald EaglePosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 27 July 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Thursday afternoon we went to Point Pleasant and walked the boardwalk for a while after dropping Russell and one of the other musicians off at the theater. Now that the kids are so much older Point Pleasant seems rather dull compared to what it was like when they were little. It's definitely a resort town for the younger families, not for families with teens. Jon was quite bored, although if we'd had room to bring a friend along, I'm sure he would have had a better time. From Point Pleasant we decided to take a ride and check out the Monmouth County Fair for a while. It's a pretty big fair featuring 4H club entries and the typical carnival rides. There was also barrel racing, pig races (which we missed dang!), various shows and demonstrations, and all sorts of other interesting things to see and do. Of course there was lots of food and carnival rides as well. We didn't have time to take it all in but we did manage to see quite a few things one of which was a show by Raptor Project featuring rescued raptors such as eagles, owls, ravens, etc. We came to the show near it's end unfortunately and didn't have time to return for a later show. I did manage to walk around the tent and get a few photos of some lovely creatures including this gorgeous bald eagle.
