HullPosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 14 July 2007 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. This is an old wooden hull from a boat. I came across this while shooting in Cape May a few weeks ago. The patina in the wood from many years of exposure to the elements was what I found most appealing. I am posting this on Friday so that it will automatically post on Saturday. We are off to see the opening of "Carousel" at NJPAC. Russell is playing the bassoon in the orchestra pit for the run of the show. We are really excited. But I won't be able to take photos, oh well. UPDATE: I didn't have time to say much about this shot yesterday when I wrote this. I chose this shot because it relates to the setting of the musical "Carousel" which takes place in a seaside New England town, actually on an Island as well. A pivotal scene takes place after a clam bake on the island, so this seemed a fitting scene. The show was great. The theater was sold out. It was so professional I was truly amazed by the talent on that stage. Not to mention the talent in the pit, and of course behind the scenes. While Carousel isn't my favorite musical, they did a marvelous job. I did like the second act more than the first. All of the vocals were awesome! Those kids have some serious pipes! Wow! The dancing was enchanting especially the ballet. The sets, costumes, sound, and lights were as professional as you can get. After the show there was the company party which was held in the Chase Room banquet facilities right in NJPAC. What a beautiful place! There was so much food and they had decorated it beautifully in keeping with the setting of the show. The party was still going strong when we left at nearly 1 AM. Those kids can dance!!! I guess it comes from all those years of theater experience they've had. Wow! I am a pretty fair dancer, but I wouldn't embarrass myself in their company so I didn't set foot on the floor. It was just as much fun to watch them. Well it's one show down, 16 more to go!!! Please visit my other photoblog Capturethisphotography.com See my new SLIDESHOW page.
