Rahul from Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaStunning macro here Laurie, this is just awesome and cool post processing. Love the softness and colors in this. :) 3 Jul 2007 8:46am @Rahul: Thanks. I blended a sharp layer with a diffused Gaussian blur layer. @Suby: Thanks. I'm glad you like it considering it's a flower shot. Beckie from New Hope, United StatesLaurie, it's absolutely stunning!!! A gorgeous macro! 3 Jul 2007 1:38pm @Beckie: Thanks. @Viewfinder: Thanks. @Daroru: Thanks. I blended a diffused Gaussian blur layer to give a sort of dreamy effect. Seraphine from San Francisco, United StatesI love the dark! Dark is hard to do, and still be stunning. If there were 7 ways to spell WOW, I would. 3 Jul 2007 3:20pm @Seraphine: Thanks. Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanThis is really beautiful Laurie, very delicate and well composed photo, the colors are wonderful, my favorite tonal range, yeahh! 3 Jul 2007 3:42pm @Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thanks. Bob Israel from Brookfield, WI, United StatesA nice soft touch gives this character . Nice image. 3 Jul 2007 3:49pm @Bob Israel: Thanks. @Manon B: Thanks. Celialee from Kyoto, JapanBeautiful Laurie, just perfect! Love the focus in the picture! 3 Jul 2007 5:28pm @Celialee: Thanks. @Dawn Sutherland: Thanks. adalove from Alcala de Guadaira, SpainLovely macro and love the diffusion there, great effect. 3 Jul 2007 6:57pm @adalove: Thanks. Hercules from Jacksonville, United StatesThis image has great mood , a sense of royalty . I would like to see a little more saturation(especially in the yellows) and contrast of popping effect 3 Jul 2007 7:16pm @Hercules: Thanks. The saturation is an accurate representation of the flower as it is. The yellow stamen are not a vibrant yellow but rather a pale yellow. frank from amadora, PortugalGreat shot Laurie, photos of flowers are beautifull. and this one is no exception 3 Jul 2007 8:59pm @frank: Thanks. I am fond of taking photos of flowers, but that's probably become pretty obvious if you look at my archives. John from United StatesWow, what intense and dramatic color. Excellent. Might look pretty nice on a greeting card or a calender! 3 Jul 2007 9:53pm @John: Thanks. They are my among my favorite colors for the rich depth of color they get. Angry Buddha from Phoenixville, United StatesNice work here Laurie. I love the softness and the subtle details. 4 Jul 2007 1:00am @Angry Buddha: Thanks. @Daniel: The softness was completely intentional. I blended a diffused Gaussian blur layer with the sharp original layer to create something of an Orton effect. It was a technique typically used with slide film where you took 2 frames of the same image one overexposed 2 stops and sharp and the second overexposed 1 stop and out of focus. Then the images were sandwiched together to create a soft painterly quality. I've been trying different techniques to try and emulate the effect with digital. This is pretty close to what I was looking for but it's still not quite there. @Zing: Thanks. RoBeRt from Cheeseburger, United Stateslooks like something that should be under the sea .....nice image , great colors 4 Jul 2007 2:11am @RoBeRt: Thanks. I thought the same when I took the shot. @Peng Wei Seng: Thanks. Anne from White Rock, CanadaQuite a beautiful image Laurie - I agree with Robert that it looks like something that should be under the sea - the 'petals' remind me of sea anemones! Thanks for your posts on my blog - appreciate your comments and visits! :-) 4 Jul 2007 6:42am @Anne: Thanks. I felt the same way about it when I first shot it. david from Chesham, United Kingdomi just read how you did this and will be taking notes! the result is a stunning beauty! do you know the name of this clematis? we've got a fair few but i don't recognise this one. 4 Jul 2007 7:05am @david: Thanks. I don't know the variety. I bought this at COSTCO the warehouse store. It was really, really cheap; about half the price of the ones I'd seen in the garden centers and it was also about twice the size. There was no tag to say what variety it was. @ColNed Pictures: Thanks. @Craiger: Thanks. Manuela Photography from Hainburg, GermanyAwesome! 4 Jul 2007 7:48am @Manuela Photography: Thanks. I saw that and I am most humbled by it. dee from Innsbruck, AustriaA beautiful shot. So soft, but also quite intense. Well done! 4 Jul 2007 9:47am @dee: Thanks. @badala: Thanks.
