Wisteria Lane

Posted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 24 June 2007 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

This was taken in Hoffman Park back about a month ago. Hoffman Park was formerly my Aunt's farm turned into a public park. The wisteria grows wild along the roads and paths in the park.

My mom had harvested some from the farm years ago and grew it on a trellis that ran the length of our back porch. It was so beautiful the way it cascaded like a veil along the porch. When the porch was torn out in 1974 to accommodate the addition of a large family room the wisteria was moved, but it never took.

I noticed some wisteria growing wild up a tree just on the other side of the fence in a tree on my neighbor's property last year. I wonder if it was the child of that wisteria that once grew along the porch?

I should probably mention that I now live in the house I grew up in. We bought it back in 1993 from the same people my parents sold it to in 1987.
