And From Gritty Back to Pretty Again

Posted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 5 April 2007 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Thanks all for the feedback on the last photo. I do like it even though it wasn't the photo I had planned. I'm glad so many of you felt the same way about it.

Well today it's back to my black and white flower series. This is another one from the flower arrangement that was for my neighbor. The first shot from that arrangement can be seen here.

The story behind this shot was that my neighbor wasn't home to receive the flowers, so the florist asked me to hold them for her. I had my camera set up to do some shots in my kitchen so...well, I just couldn't help myself. I ended up up taking the purple mum shot and framing it for my neighbor and she loved it!

She loved it so much that she mentioned that she is friends with a merchant in town who owns a frame store. The store is expanding to include a gallery to feature local artists. The woman who owns the store graciously met with me, thanks to Holly arranging it and introducing us. She asked for five of my prints to showcase in the gallery starting in June! I am so excited since this is in my hometown and several of the shots are from here.
