Queen Anne's Lace

This is another flower shot from last summer taken during one of our many visits to Sandy Hook.

I want to thank everyone for all their visits and wonderful comments and feedback. I truly appreciate them and I try my best to respond. I maintain 2 photoblogs in addition to my daily work and obligations so it is sometimes difficult to respond to everyone.

I do visit everyone though I may not always have time to comment, I do look.

I don't remember seeing this flower in a tight bud, only in full flower. Very nice capture.
Commenting really does take a lot of time. I love hearing from you but don't feel pressure to comment all the time. When you can its appreciated.

@photowannabe: Thanks. I only really took notice of them this way last year. I'd never paid attention to them other than full open before that and didn't appreciate their beauty in this state before.

@Jerry: Thanks. This one was a bit tougher. I shot it with my other camera, the E300. We'd spent the day on the beach so I didn't want my good camera on the beach most of the day in the sand and sea spray. I shot in JPEG which makes it more difficult to PP the photo without losing some quality. It also limits how much exposure adjustment you can do. I feel that some of the highlights were blown, but I still love the image. If I'd shot in RAW I would have had a bit more control over the highlights. It was a tough exposure anyway because it was bright white on a dark green background.

i love the fantastic complexity you see in shots like this - i'd love to see a similar shot when it's fully open.

@david: I had one but it didn't turn out as well as this. It was breezy when I shot these handheld and the screen on my Olympus camera isn't as good as my D200, so it looked sharp on the camera even zoomed in but opened blurry. I'm going to be on a mission this summer to get more of these delicate flowers.

@Jen: Thanks. I love the look of Queen Anne's Lace ever since I was a little girl. It wasn't until fairly recently that I noticed how beautiful they are when they are closed like this.
