Warm Thoughts of Summer

Posted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 13 February 2007 in People & Portraits and Portfolio.

Today we are supposed to finally have our first "serious" winter storm of the season. I have no idea whether or not it will actually materialize to the extent they are calling for, but, they said it would start around 3pm today and go through tomorrow and I'm already seeing flurries outside my window so maybe it's for real. What I do know for certain is that my children are hoping the school closing gods will shine down upon them tomorrow. I, of course, am hoping for enough snow and favorable conditions for some decent photos.

My dilemma was what to post today? Well a summer photo of course! What else? This was shot last August at the shore, LBI to be precise. (Long Beach Island for those not familiar with the Jersey Shore.)

That's Jon walking down by the water in the photo. In this photo he still looks like a kid, which is fast becoming a memory now that he is about 5' 10", wears a size 13 shoe, has a loud deep voice, a shadow on his upper lip, his facial features are becoming more defined, and mature, and he is growing out of his clothes faster than I can buy them, and he's only 14. He is sure to be the biggest of my 3 boys. He's the youngest and is already giving Russell, 16, a run for his money in the height department, he is at least as tall as Russell, perhaps a hair taller, definitely taller than Rob and his dad, and of course left me behind some time ago. There are still those fleeting moments when the child is still visible but I'm afraid those moments are becoming few and far between. They grow up much too fast.

Your comments are very much appreciated. I know the time and effort it takes to visit and leave comments and although I don't get to reply to them nearly as often as I like, please know that I do really appreciate them. You are what keeps me going. I make every effort to reply to questions but I may miss one or two and I apologize for that. As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos here as on Capturethisphotography.com but check the archives for photos not posted here.
