I had never heard of a "quaking bog" before and looking at the scene beyond the sign it really didn't look all that much like a bog to me. It just looked like a small wooded area off the side of the road.
I did a little research and this was the definition that I found for what a quaking bog is:
quaking bog
n. A floating mat of thickly woven mosses, rushes, and shrubs that forms across the surface of shallow ponds and may shimmy or shake when walked on.
I did not venture further into the bog which was probably a good thing.

Walking on unstable ground sounds a bit scary to me. I never heard of a quaking bog before. Thanks for the info.

Quaking bog, oh well, at least I have now learned something I could drop into a party coversation and sound very knowledgeable :)
