Bog Meadows Quaking BogPosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 12 January 2007 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. I had never heard of a "quaking bog" before and looking at the scene beyond the sign it really didn't look all that much like a bog to me. It just looked like a small wooded area off the side of the road. I did a little research and this was the definition that I found for what a quaking bog is: quaking bog n. A floating mat of thickly woven mosses, rushes, and shrubs that forms across the surface of shallow ponds and may shimmy or shake when walked on. I did not venture further into the bog which was probably a good thing. Please visit my other photoblog Capturethisphotography.com See my new SLIDESHOW page. Your comments are very much appreciated.
