On Monday I went back to the same park where I shot these in their glorious fall color. There were few leaves left on the branches this time and the ones that were left were brown, no longer golden. Fall color has given way the the somber tones of winter...It was REALLY cold and windy too...BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

i love this shot. only one twig with leaves so its not too in-your-face, and the out-of-focus b'ground contrasts beautifully with the sharpness of detail in the leaves. nicely composed too. excellent work mate.

@Stu: Thanks...I was drawn to it's simplicity and it was actually exactly what I was looking for. I lucked out as there weren't many leaves left.
A well controlled shot....the brown leaves reflects nicely with the brown background!

@kalyan: Thank you.
i like the way that the overall muted nature of the colour in this shot complements the wintry image.

@david: Thanks...I had to make the best of the colors or lack there of in this case and the light was nice enough when I shot this.
Lovely shot and very nice post processing

@Pinto: Thanks...post processing was pretty simple here...I just added some vignetting did some color balancing a little curves and blending with gradient map layer in black and white to lower the contrast a bit.
Great capture, especially if the wind was blowing!! Love the sepia toning, brings the whole season to a nice end.

@micki: Thanks. It was cold and windy and I was just about frozen when I finally found some nicely "composed" leaves. My hands were just about numb and barely able to handle the camera at that point. I still had the walk home ahead of me too...BRRRRRRRR!!!
lovely shot laurie...

@dawn: Thanks I think the background is what really made these tones work out.
wonderful image. really evocative of the change in season and some wonderful sepia processing to finish this off. The DoF is sublime too.

@alberto: Thank you.
The sepia tones show the attitude of the coming of winter. I like this a lot.

@photowannabe: Thanks...those tones were pretty much as they were...The ground was littered with brown leaves and these were lower to the ground. There wasn't too much other than shades of brown around.
Really simple and beautiful.

@April: Thanks.
I am liking this, not many times can one get away with these tones on flower shots, but you have. Good DOF,
Suby

@Suby: Thanks...believe it or not other than some slight curves and a little vignetting, this shot is pretty true to the original. The tones all around were that kind of brown.
I like it, though I do wish there was a bit more DoF.

@Ben: Thanks...One thing you'll notice with me is I Love tight Dof in these kinds of shots. I like the way it separates the subject from the background almost giving it a deeper dimension. It's also hard to control and I am determined to master controlling tight DOF.
Very nice image. great work.
