These are just some sort of flowers that I found in a park on one of my walks back in late September. I'm not sure what they were, but they were turning brown and clearly past their prime, although there was still something delicate and beautiful about them.

@shiv: Thanks. I 'm glad you like it. I found it very interesting, almost as pretty in it's dying as it was when it was still new.
They almost look petrified or porcelain. I like that.

@dawn: Thanks Dawn. I never thought of that, but you're right.
I like it very much, very well done!

@Craiger: Thanks...I was tempted to go Black and white, but decided against it, and I think I am glad I did.
Even past the prime makes a great shot. i like the subtle coloring and textures.

@photowannabe: Thank you. Subtle definitely worked here. I think more intense colors would have been too busy with all the fine details, especially with the background.
Very good DOF here, rather dark for you I think but works for me. :)

@Suby: Thanks...it was in the park early AM and the light was dappled and low yet. I don't think it could be too much brighter without blowing the highlights, so it was just as it should be, I think. Oh, and I do tend to slightly underexpose my shots.
It looks fragile yet monumental, and for some reason puts me in mind of that poem about Ozymandias. Very unexpected and lovely -- found you because you wrote you'd press that button on the "push" rust-box on Dave's black-and-white photo, and so would I.

@Lori Witzel: Thanks...and I so would push it too. ;-)
Nice work!
