I shot this a few weeks back when the trees were just getting past peak fall color. The reflection on the river was like a mirror until a fish surfaced causing these ripples. I thought it looked pretty nice, unfortunately the photo looks better in a much larger size, but I think you may just be able to get the idea.

@Claireg: Thanks!
Very well captured. The ripple really works well here.

@Pinto: Thanks!
Great shot mate!! You have got the ripples going at the right diameter. It is unbelievable how still the water is that you had to make a ripple to see that it was water. Another beautiful shot.

@Colour blind: Thanks...It was pretty amazing especially considering it's a river and there was a spillway just downstream a little ways. I don't think the photo would have been effective without the ripples.
Really great image. Great use of the reflections

@shiv: Thanks...you flatter me too much! My head might not fit through the door anymore.
Beautiful. Subtlety, vibrance, action. You should teach.

@Matt Trujillo Photography: Wow...that's quite a compliment, especially since I consider myself still a student. Thank you.
The polarizing filter (and I know you had it on...you love yours as much as I love mine) really pushed this image over the top, Laurie!! Beautiful work!!

@micki: Yes it did Micki, and you are right...my polarizing filters spend more time on my lenses than off (I sometimes forget to take them off when shooting in conditions where they shouldn't be on.) Thanks!
Great work.

@badala: Thank you.
The ripple works very well here. It adds contrast to what would be a very tranquil and calm lake.

Good framing on this, the ripple is subtle, I appreciate when things aren't obvious...
