Silky RosesPosted by Laurie (New Jersey, United States) on 24 November 2006 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. I love fresh cut flowers, but unfortunately so does my cat. She isn't satisfied with just looking at them though, she'd rather play with them and chew on them. So needless to say it is very rare for me to have real cut flowers in my house. I have to settle for silk ones. They do look very pretty and unless you look really close, it's easy to mistake them for the real thing. I also love to take pictures of flowers in different light. The problem with taking pictures of silk flowers is that they don't really do a good job of fooling the camera at close range. I was experimenting with lighting Thursday morning and used my silk flowers as the subject. This was the result of some of my experiments. I liked the shadows in this particular shot. I had to soften the image a bit to try and disquise the fact that the flowers are indeed silk. But since I just told you all what I did I am wondering why I bothered. At any rate it was more about the shadow and light and not so much the subject. Please visit my other photoblog Capturethisphotography.com See my new SLIDESHOW page.
